Many spells and summons are glitzy affairs, particularly the spells of the Illusionist Job, which affect every enemy on the screen. While the soundtrack is made up of mostly remixed tunes from the first FFTA, they have undergone significant improvement in their clarity as well as the number of instruments used to create them. |

The game made my poor test machine struggle in pain, to such an extent an upgrade was urgently required. And applied. Hyboria is worth exploring just for the exploration’s sake, to absorb each separate region, from the Khoshepf deserts to the amazingly beautiful mountains in Connal’s valley. The draw distance is absolutely huge: you can actually see the whole “map” if you find a view spot high enough. |

The title successfully delivers a real-time space strategy that offers 4X and RTS fans an experience that is both detailed and easy to learn. Veteran 4Xers may find the reduced complexity to be a shortcoming, but I found that the title offers a perfect level of complexity while still maintaining the delicate balance between strategy and action. |

But once you get to the other side of that, this is one rewarding wargame, even if you never have to go to war. |

Note my track record as I do not take my scoring lightly. This is especially true when it come to games I feel have gone above and beyond the call of duty as it were. This is a game that deserves all of its accolades and set as one of the examples of a game to beat. |

And while the series' Saving Private Ryan-esque sentimentalism might prove too cloying for some, if Baker's exploits can tug at the heartstrings the way they engage the brain, we'll be more than happy to make the trip to certain doom along Hell's Highway. |
